LOGICA SOREN ETICA ANALISIS

HERMENEUTICS AND ANALYSIS OF PHILOSOPHICAL DISCOURSE

Field of investigation: Hermeneutics and study of philosophy classics.

Description: A brief tour through the great classic authors of the history of philosophy is enough to understand that there is not one unique way of making philosophy; its view of certain problems, its method, and its arguments are diverse. None the less, through the analysis of fundamental texts a certain family air or recurrent forms of building philosophical discourse may be discovered, besides the clear differences between several authors. This project seeks to make an analysis of the fundamental texts of philosophy to point out the different argumentation styles and explain the similarities and differences between them. For this purpose various texts have been selected, these texts are parallel in the themes discussed, but have clear discursive differences. For example, Plato and Aristotle in the theme of virtue; Hume and Kant in the theme of epistemological fundaments; Thomas of Aquine and Kierkegaard in the matter of the Socratic definition of evil; Wittgenstein and Nietzsche in the theme of language; Heidegger and Gadamer in aesthetics and poetry, etc.

PUBLICATIONS

Logic: Formal Deductive Reasoning. Universidad Panamericana, México. Primera edición 1992. Segunda edición 1993.
From all the philosophical disciplines, logic maintains a development and currency that render it present in the most varied fields of human knowledge: in the fundaments of mathematics, in cybernetic programs, in philosophical arguments, in advertising campaigns, in political speeches and others. The book presents the rational bases of deductive classical logic and of modern symbolic, this way this presentation is a good aid for the comprehension of both logics. It also gathers in an organized and schematic manner, the main definitions, classifications, rules, laws, methods and strategies that make easier the solution of logical problems. The book develops in an innovating way some of the topics discussed in this field and has the purpose of favoring a logical mentality in its readers due to its sequence of strategies and exercises.

"Clarity in thinking", en Tópicos. Revista de filosofía Nº 1, Universidad Panamericana, México 1991.
Following the argumentative logic of Wittgenstein´s Tractaus logico-philosophicus in which he affirms that "everything that can be thought can be thought clearly", this essay is an exercise to show that when we use the expressions "a dark thought" or "a not clear enough idea" we are not actually talking about an idea because every thought is a clear thought. Through diverse uses of the mentioned expressions the essay shows that we are actually not talking about dark thoughts, but of some other phenomena that can´t be called thought.

Logical Laws. Ed. Universidad Panamericana, México. Primera edición 1992. Tercera edición 1993.
This work is a schematic compilation of the main laws used both in classical logic and in contemporary logic. It presents the valid Aristotelian syllogisms, the tables of truth, the laws of truth-functional analysis, the laws of conjunction, disjunction, exclusion, of the conditional and biconditional. It also includes the immediate inferences of the square of opposition, the conversion of propositions, complex propositions and the main laws of quantificational logic.
